From Coach Dawson:

To Maverick Baseball Parents and Players, Past and Present:

Congratulations to you Silver for being named the new Head Baseball Coach at McNeil High School. I'm incredibly happy for you.  You've been an incredible assistant and friend to me, but now it is your time to take the reins. I wish only the best for you.

I want to thank everyone for the generous coaches' gifts given to us at the banquet. Additionally, I am humbled and appreciative of the support and kindness afforded me over the years. It's mind boggling for me to think I've been blessed to coach at one school for 26 years.

As I said at the banquet, I've been in the game of baseball since I was six years old. That's 53 years that I've either played the game or coached it.

I've received every employment opportunity through our national pastime. The friendships I've gained are countless and the laughter and stories are endless. Many do not know that, prior to teaching English and coaching, my first degree was in advertising, and I worked as an executive in that realm for four years. However, I could not stay away from the diamond, and this passion led me to a teaching degree in English/Physical Education. Since then, I've never looked back. The years have woven their way like an emotional extra inning World Series Game 7, and I'm so very thankful for each and every single moment.

Many have asked about my "plans". I'm not even sure at this point.  There may be a new career out there somewhere, maybe not.  I'm headed to Scotland (with Siebken, Hoover, and Schneider) in July for some golf, and there'll be a bit of salt water fishing thrown in there somewhere.  In the meantime, I know that you will all give Silver the same support you've shown me through the years. It's a great overall team we have here, and I look for great things in the future for Maverick Baseball !  All the best, and hit 'em like you live.
